The USAF

Once the Air Corps, The Air Force is relatively new and were prominent in the World Wars. They started out as bi-/tri-planes and later evolved into monoplanes. New technology made available supersonic speed, stealth, moving wing, etc planes.

Planes:

  • Fixed Wing: The most iconic ones, the three types are: Fighter, Bomber, Assaulter/Interceptor. The middle one’s job is to drop bombs on the enemy below. They can carry torpedoes too. The other two can carry bombs but mainly use their guns and rockets to shoot each other or ground forces. The new jet fighter can go at higher speeds and can combine bomb and cannon.
  • Helicopter: These planes no not require runways and have a propeller on top and another one on the tail to stabilize itself. Some models can switch from fixed-wing to copter. There are transport helis to carry ground vehicles, troops, or cargo, and attack helis which are still under improvement.
  • Naval: Hydroplanes or flying boats can takeoff and land on water, while naval fighters can take off aircraft carriers. These planes have a tail hook for landing on the carrier.
  • Special: The dark-colored night fighters are more adapted to the night sky. Reconnaissance planes are fast and are useful for scouting enemy lines and huge jet transporters can carry a lot of equipment to allies. The plane with a rotating wing can change its speed, while the stealth bomber can go undetected on radar. Finally, the US is developing unmanned drones to reduce casualties.
