The USN

The second oldest branch, The United States Navy has and still is being improved. It has very advanced, with stealth and long range technology. It first started out as wooden ships with sails and cannons. The USS Constitution (“Old Ironsides”) is the oldest one still in commission. During the Civil War, with the invention of steam came the USS Monitor, the first ironclad. It battled the CSS Virginia/Merrimack but ended as a draw. Now, ~250 years later, we have ballistic missiles, double steel hulls, etc.

Ships:

  • Assault: Battleships are huge ships with huge firepower, and destroyers are more or less a much smaller model. Corvettes are fast ships but also with strong firepower. Frigates and cruisers are just the general warship with decent cannons with don’t have much use.
  • Support: Minelayers drop mines into the ocean which explode when touched, patrol boats operate in the shallower waters, oilers and cargo ships provide supplies, and the famous aircraft carrier can launch airplanes but isn’t good for attacking.
  • Other: Amphibious vessels can go on land and can carry troops, special forces are useful for missions, and the sneaky submarines can go underwater and ambush ships.
